Overview

Susquehanna is currently looking to add an experienced Database specialist into our engineering team. This team manages data flow for databases spread across multiple data centres.  You will be an important part of coordinating and deploying broad-based technical solutions, refreshes and upgrades within this environment.

In this role, you will:

  • Keep the company databases running without interruption according to SLA
  • Monitor database performance, optimize queries, and ensure efficient database operation
  • Install, configure, and maintain database servers and software up to date in Linux environment
  • Create and maintain databases required for application development and testing
  • Implement robust backup and recovery protocols to safeguard data using database tools
  • Plan and execute database patching, upgrades, and migrations
  • Implement database capacity planning
  • Troubleshoot database issue and investigate performance degradation
  • Maintain compliance standards and implementing security policies on the databases
  • Develop and maintain database documentation and procedures

What we’re looking for

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related discipline
  • Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to deal effectively with both technical and non-technical teams
  • Experience with managing MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, and Oracle in Linux environment
  • Experience with High availability solutions such as Dataguard
  • Experience with database utilities and tools such as RMAN, Datapump, mysqldump
  • Exposure to Oracle packages, stored procedures and functions
  • Experience with NoSQL database technologies a plus e.g. MongoDB
  • Strong experience with Linux/Unix scripting using Shell, Korn Shell
  • Familiarity with database management tools like Oracle Grid Control, MySQL Workbench
  • Working Knowledge of Atlassian JIRA and Confluence.
