Overview

By joining our team as an accountant, you will be exposed to the energetic and fast paced financial services industry with a firm renowned for its product knowledge and expertise.  You will have end to end responsibility for the business entities to which you’re assigned, gathering all of the information necessary to prepare and manage their financials and associated financial reporting. This will give you the opportunity to gain an understanding of the business strategies and financial products that drive your companies as well as the types of inter-company transactions that occur between them.

Our teams are highly collaborative, and you can expect to work closely with colleagues both in the U.S. and globally to meet our team goals.  

In this role, you will:

  • Prepare & reconcile monthly journal entries, general ledgers and financial statements ensuring compliance with GAAP or relevant reporting standards
  • Reconcile management P&L to the General Ledger; collaborate with colleagues in financial operations to obtain data and substantiate  variances; report variances to management on a monthly basis
  • Gain an understanding of the underlying business activity and conceptualize the flow of data from trade to financial statement
  • Interface with external auditors, regulators and other internal departments as needed
  • Prepare analytical procedures on underlying data and provide explanation for variances
  • After a period of development within the department, be responsible for conducting comprehensive entity reviews and ensuring their accuracy and regulatory compliance

What we’re looking for

  • Minimum of 3 years of corporate and/or public accounting experience, including preparation of financial statements, required; previous experience in the broker-dealer/financial services industry are preferred
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or Business required; CPA certification preferred
  • Keen attention to detail with strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Proficient with MS Excel; experience with VBA, SQL, and Python preferred
  • Driven and articulate with strong interpersonal skills. The candidate needs to be a “team player” and able to work successfully with various functions across the organization.
  • Strong verbal and written communicator with great people skills
  • Able to produce timely and accurate records; appreciates the importance of supporting work paper documentation and schedules
  • Desire to grow in a role and take on more responsibility over time.
  • Self-starter who can work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with a proven record of meeting or exceeding deadlines
