Overview

You will be joining the Static Data team within our Technology department. This team is responsible for the vital set up and maintenance of our daily instrument reference data. You will work alongside development and Trading Support teams to ensure the integrity and accuracy of the data to our trading desks  

You will be required to build financial knowledge of the vast range of products traded by SIG as well as specifics of the trading venues we operate on. You will work with the complex structure of the databases and investigate ways of obtaining, populating and monitoring data using internal tools and workflows.

 

This is a superb opportunity to gain exposure to front office trading environment for someone with a keen interest in the financial markets and with a focus on the tuning data sets as well as providing business and technical support to the wider teams.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Controlling and guaranteeing integrity of instrument reference data
  • Identifying improvements within existing operational processes and driving projects aimed at improving static data tools.
  • Supporting automation jobs and understanding workflows
  • Handling the creation of all exchange traded and OTC instruments in internal systems.
  • Ensuring front to back system maintenance of instrument static data for all asset classes
  • Reconciling data discrepancies on a daily basis
  • Investigating and resolving user requests in a timely manner
  • Single point of contact for all maintenance requests and questions related to instrument static data.
  • Retrieving and interpreting data from third party data sources.
  • Making sure that data is synchronised across all relevant environments.
  • Proactively communicating changes and updates in order to reduce trading/operational risks.
  • Managing static data updates around corporate actions and coordinating actions to be taken by all groups involved.    
  • Analysing exchange upgrades and any substantial system changes that can be driven by different groups
  • Liaising with Developers, Business Analysts, Traders, Operations, Finance and Compliance teams in order to keep the static data up-to-date and fit for purpose.
  • Maintaining a full understanding of data workflows and impact of static data changes on downstream processes and applications.

What we’re looking for

  • 3+ years Financial industry experience, supporting large volumes of financial instrument reference data.
  • Working knowledge of Stock Exchanges, Bloomberg and other data vendors.
  • Exposure to data monitoring tools such as QlikView or Splunk (desirable, not essential)
  • Experience with equities, ETFs, bonds, futures, options and OTC derivatives, particularly the symbology required to support trading and settlement/clearing of such instruments.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines. Familiar with high volumes of data changes and customer queries.
  • Previous experience working within a Reference Data environment would be an advantage.
  • Working knowledge of SQL, relational databases and querying/updating database tables.
  • Ability to analyse Corporate Actions and clearly communicate impact on Reference Data.
  • Experience connecting to and downloading files via FTP/SFTP protocols would be beneficial.
  • 3rd level degree, preferably in business or finance related discipline is desirable.
