Overview

We are currently seeking a Colo Comms Provisioning Specialist to assist in managing our ever expanding and changing colocation and communications environment.

You will provide expertise in all aspects of carrier circuit quoting, implementation, provisioning, handover and documentation. You will regularly review existing contracts to optimise pricing and keep abreast of changes in the European carrier space for more optimal paths.

You will also be responsible for managing change in the many colocation sites that comprise our European and US trading environments. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the administration of cabinet space, power supply, cross connects, exchange connectivity and remote hands analysis.

A key skill will be your ability to manage the vendor relationships in both Colocation and Communications and be a champion of SIG's interests in both. You will assist operational teams with escalating unresolved issues and will use the relationship built up with each vendor to maximise uptime and minimise lead times for ordered products and services. You will provide a key cost management function and will provide accurate and timely reporting to the Purchasing manager for inclusion in monthly reporting; as well as submitting estimates for the annual budget review.

It is essential you have strong knowledge of the functions and operations of modern data centres, from both the physical and logical perspectives. This includes a solid understanding of cabling types, methods and terminations, latency and path options, becoming familiar with each of the European colo facilities and will be able to identify opportunities to optimise existing connectivity and give advice on the most appropriate solutions for new deployments.

This role interacts with a large number of internal stakeholders, and you will be required to work with a variety of infrastructure engineering teams, application developers, business users and project managers to assist in the creation and deployment of solutions that satisfy network or trading objectives.

They will work with colleagues in the US and Sydney offices to ensure homogenisation of global policies and practices where these are possible and collaborate on cross entity initiatives.
