Reporting to the Compliance Officer, you will be responsible for monitoring and reporting on compliance and other risks. Based on the trading floor and involves working closely with traders and operations teams. Ideally, but not essential you will already have a good knowledge of the types of financial instruments traded by SIG and this is a superb opportunity for an individual to work within a true front office trading environment.


In the role you will:

  • Carry out monitoring in accordance with the risk based Compliance Monitoring Programme;
  • Carry out second line real-time monitoring of the firm’s algorithmic trading activity;
  • Analyse compliance exception reports;
  • Assist in ensuring that the firm complies with trading venue rules and relevant regulations e.g. MiFID II, EMIR, MAR;
  • Ensure that the identities of new counterparties are being processed in accordance with the account opening and anti-money laundering procedures;
  • Check that procedures are followed in relation to controls around automated trading systems used by SIG;
  • Monitor that procedures are followed in relation to trading and counterparty limits;
  • Assist in completing themed reviews of different business areas.

What we’re looking for

  • Degree in business, preferably a finance or law related discipline;
  • Compliance experience preferably in the financial sector would be advantageous;
  • Compliance related qualification desirable.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulation and financial markets;
  • Good knowledge of financial instruments;
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel and Access;
  • Knowledge of Visual Basic / SQL would be advantageous.  
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment;
  • Ability to work well in a team;
  • Strong communicator (verbal and written) – ability to convey subject matter in a clear and concise manner;
  • Attention to detail – thorough in work carried out;
  • Effective problem solving skills – identifies problems and propose solutions.
