Devops Engineer

As part of a trading technology team, you will perform, build and automate tasks related to the management of SIG’s proprietary trading systems deployed throughout the Asia Pacific region.  This role is an integral part of our trading systems team, collaborating closely with developers, support staff and traders.  The role offers a great opportunity to build upon/gain knowledge of working in a fast-paced trading floor environment. 

This position offers the opportunity to be involved in improving processes to manage, monitor, and deploy critical trading systems on both Windows and Linux operating systems. 

What you’ll do: 

• Become a subject matter expert in our proprietary Trading Systems and procedures across areas of Market Making, Order Management Systems, Market Data and Static/Reference Data. 

• Automate and enhance processes, including deployment, monitoring and pre-market checks 

• Build and use automation tools/scripting to ensure/improve overall system performance, reliability, and stability. 

• Act as a link between developers, traders and in-house technology teams, ensuring smooth flow of information 

• Write and maintain technical/user documentation for new/existing systems and procedures 

• A degree with a major in Computer Science, or a related technical discipline. 

• A minimum of 3 years of commercial experience in a DevOps / SRE role. 

• Exposure/interest in Financial Markets, particularly trading, market making, options, market data, order management systems, and/or other related systems, would be beneficial but is not a requirement. 

• Ability to communicate effectively with a range of technical and non-technical staff across the organisation, as well as external brokers 

• Ability to work under demanding deadlines with changing priorities in a trading room environment 

• Must have strong technical skills primarily in Python and exposure to other scripting/programming languages such as PowerShell or C# would be a bonus. 

• Must have experience in building automation systems using some of: Airflow, GitHub, MongoDB, Kafka, Docker and Kubernetes. 

• Experience with working with instrument static data and/or Market Data would be useful but not essential 

• Experience in messaging systems, debugging network protocols such as TCP, UDP, multicast using wireshark etc would be highly regarded.  

• Experience using and building monitoring systems including Grafana, Nagios, Elastic Search would be useful. 

• Be comfortable working in a mixed Windows / Linux environment.
