Overview

Susquehanna is seeking a Security Engineer to join our Sydney team, supporting the firm’s ambitious growth objectives while safeguarding our information technology. By leveraging the experience and diverse backgrounds of our global security team members, we secure our environment and efficiently maintain Susquehanna's competitive advantage. With the freedom to explore available technologies, we can design the optimal solution for each problem. 
 

In this role, you will: 
  

  • Engineer and implement authentication and privileged access controls, harden endpoints and applications, implement threat prevention controls, and design and manage Susquehanna’s cloud security posture. 
  • Work on diverse projects including new implementations, upgrades, and custom automation across the entire technology organization 
  • Work with other technical and business teams, allowing you to understand the relationship between the solutions you are building, the technologies they interact with, and the business that is leveraging them. 
  • Share responsibility for triaging and resolving connectivity issues (such as firewalls and proxies), assist with walk-up enquiries, and partner with teams to build, troubleshoot, and support bespoke solutions. 
  • Adapt to evolving priorities and assume additional responsibilities as needed to support team and organizational objectives.

What we’re looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related technical field required. Equivalent practical experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.  
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in a security engineering or operational security role, with demonstrated expertise in endpoint security and hardening, IAM/PAM, cloud and edge security, and related technical security controls. 
  • Good understanding of operating systems internals and hardening
  • Experience with scripting or automation using languages such as Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar required. 
  • Good understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, routing, and switching, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues end-to-end across large, distributed environments.
