An opportunity exists for a Low latency Trading Co-location Operations (Colo OPs) engineer to join our Low Latency Trading Colo Ops Infrastructure Technology team based in Bergamo, reporting in to the Dublin Infrastructure Technology team. As part of a multi-skilled team, you will be primarily responsible for the day to day running of our Colocation sites in Frankfurt and mainland Europe. Experience working in Financial trading exchange specific Data Centres is necessary for this role. Flexibility is required for the purposes of both travel and collaborating with core trading business hours. You will also be required to travel to our Dublin office, if not based in Dublin, from time to time to build up your knowledge of the SIG low latency Trading infrastructure and requirements for our Colo buildouts.
What you can expect
- As part of our Low Latency Trading Colo OPS team, your main focus will be on working on the day-to-day onsite operations and optimisations in our trading venues.
- The successful Engineer will help grow and optimise SIG’s trading footprint and Data Centre presence in Bergamo and mainland Europe. You will help implement the fit out and management of new data Centre infrastructures as well as make improvements and upgrades to the current environment based on SIG’s low latency trading R&D driven enhancements coming from Dublin.
- Support the day Colo team on site and plan and prepare for the next Colo visit, resolving issues, closing out on JIRAs’ and supporting planned maintenance.
- You will follow Colo Ops installation processes and procedures to ensure that all Racking & Cabling of hardware within cabinets is completed to a high standard.
- Respond to all relevant trading colocation related issues and perform regular scheduled out of hour’s maintenance window activities.
- Receipt, tracking and deployment of server and network hardware.
- Documentation of Colo infrastructure.
- Follow and implement processes and procedures that improve stability, performance and availability
- Liaise with Dublin Low Latency Trading R&D(EMO) team to deliver solutions from our Dublin lab to our production trading colos.
- As a Low Latency Trading Colo Ops team member you will be responsible for ensuring projects and plans are delivered to agreed scope, milestones and budgets
- Communicate and collaborate effectively across all departments within SIG.
- Planned travel to other European Data Centre locations to aid in capacity expansion and new Trading colo projects.
- No OnCall is expected as part of the role.
